CHARLOTTE, ASH and EMMA have 3 tickets to the Resettlement Zone, but Ash has discovered that only one of his parents, ANAND or VIDYA, can go. He’s insisting that one of them goes, and he stays behind with the other. Meanwhile, Charlotte and Emma’s bus is being hijacked by ROGUE SOLDIERS.

 

Ash is plotting with SOLDIERS BARRETT and BRIDLE to prevent Charlotte’s bus from being hijacked.

 

Ash’s parents don’t want to be separated but for their son’s sake, they’re trying to choose. Maybe if they do they can convince him to leave with his family. 

 

Unable to decide, they have flipped a coin over who gets on a bus.

 

2am It’s heads. Vidya will go.

 

But no, she won’t have it happen this way. They don’t have to compromise. She throws the coin across the room and kisses her husband. He tries to fight back but it doesn’t take long for him to give in.

 

They take each other by the hand, walk past Ash and the plotting soldiers, and head for Charlie’s bus.

 

Ash’s parents begin to provoke the soldier guarding the bus’s door, calling him names, riling him up. 

 

Ash hears the commotion and tries to get to them but the soldiers hold him back. With the guard distracted, they can get on board. And they don’t have a moment to spare. SOLDIERS WILSON and BLAKE’S jeep has just parked. They quickly arm Ash, and head towards the bus. 

 

Blake briefly catches up with Ash. In the scuffle, Ash receives a blow to the head, but surprises himself by shooting Blake.

 

On board the bus, Barrett and Bridle struggle slightly without Ash but Charlie, having seen her husband with the pair outside, and her in-laws' efforts, steps up to help. 

 

As the guard outside turns to address the commotion, Anand and Vidya attack, delaying him just long enough for Bridle to drive the bus through the gates. Charlie and Barrett pull Ash onto the bus and they watch together out of the back window as his parents valiantly fight the soldier. The fence comes down, and Anand and Vidya disappear amongst the swarm of incoming bodies. 

 

Sergeant Johnson is killed by a violent protester.

 

The Dhumal Seniors’ relationship has been tested and then confirmed with a profound act of sacrifice. Ash’s faith in his parents’ relationship is tested and then healed. Seeing how profound the Dhumal Seniors’ relationship is, the Dhumal Juniors look to emulate them.

 

Charlie takes Ash’s hand. Did he see them take that soldier down? They were so brave. Must be where he gets it from.

 

7am outside a tent in Wales, two people talk. The government knows what’s causing the crisis and they’re going to announce it soon. They’re going to survive this.

 

Inside the tent, Emma sleeps on one camp bed, her parents spoon on another. Ash lies awake.

A flashback to their wedding: Vidya gives a speech. She believes that Ash and Charlie will find what she and Anand have.
